Business Podcast for Beginners: What You Need to Know to Start?

Podcast Room Setup

Podcasts let you talk to your customers in a way that’s different than what they’re used to. A business podcast is a fantastic way to connect with your audience, but there are some things you need to know before you start podcasting for business:

1. Podcast Hosting

Podcast hosting services are the “cloud” service providers for your audio files. The hosting service will provide you with a website address where visitors can access your podcast to listen to or download the file. Podcast host companies usually offer access to free or low-cost web-based podcasting tools that enable you to edit and upload your episode files, maintain an RSS feed, and track statistics about downloads and traffic. Here are some that you should check out:

2. Business Podcast Editing Software

Podcast editing software is optional, making creating an informative podcast much easier. Software like Adobe Audition can help you clean up or edit your audio file and make it more presentable with features such as adding a musical intro, adding sound effects, and splitting long files into shorter files.

3. Podcast Recording Equipment

Podcasting for business does not require any special equipment. However, if you want to take your podcast to the next level, you need a few items. The only two things you will need are a microphone and software to record your podcast. You can use the microphone that is built into your computer, or you can purchase an external microphone (i.e. Yeti Microphone). The sound quality is directly related to the quality of the microphone you use.

If you are doing interviews over Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom, your audio quality may be lacking. This is because these programs focus on video quality rather than audio. Zencastr is a fantastic program to record interviews with high audio quality.

4. Business Podcast Theme Music

If you want to add intro and outro music to your podcast, you will need some royalty-free music or hire a musician to create custom music for your podcast. A catchy podcast theme music is a great way to set the tone of your podcast and keep your audience engaged. Podcasting for business does not require special podcast theme music. Podcast theme music is optional, but it can help you create a more polished and professional podcast.
